The Hamdan Sports Complex is gearing up to welcome fencers from 58 countries as Dubai prepares to host the highly anticipated 2024 World Fencing Masters Championships from October 11 to 17. Organized by the UAE Fencing Federation (UAEF) in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and under the supervision of the International Fencing Federation (FIE), the event will see over 850 athletes competing across various age groups.
Participants, including male and female fencers, will compete in veteran individual and team categories in Sabre, Foil, and Epee disciplines, spanning ages 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and above. This event marks a significant milestone for the sport of fencing in the UAE and the broader region.
The championship was officially announced at a press conference held by the Dubai Sports Council, where His Excellency Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the UAEF and Member of the FIE Executive Office, expressed his excitement about Dubai hosting the prestigious competition. Sheikh Salem highlighted the city’s growing reputation for hosting international sporting events and thanked the FIE for its support, as well as key sponsors like Mai Dubai and Prime Hospital.
His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the DSC, echoed this sentiment, stating that the UAE Fencing Federation has been instrumental in increasing the sport's popularity in the country. The Hamdan Sports Complex, a state-of-the-art venue known for hosting international events, will provide the perfect stage for the tournament, further solidifying Dubai’s status as a global sports hub.
Registration for the 24th edition of the World Fencing Masters Championship remains open until October 4.
